Since the start of the lockdown in January, Holly House has remained open and more than half of our pupils have been attending. We welcomed all pupils back to school on the 8th March. Pupils that are unable to attend are still able to work at home. Our remote learning offer can be found here. The parents of all pupils on remote learning have had personal contact with staff to keep them updated.
School fully reopened on the 19t h April following the Easter Holidays. Late on the evening of Weds. 21st April, a member of staff returned a positive lateral flow test at home. As a precaution, school was closed on Thursday to allow the Head Teacher to assess the risk to pupils and staff. He has been in contact with Public Health England and the East Midlands Health Protection Team and school remained closed Friday to ensure that all areas on site are covid-free and school reopened on Monday 26th April. Two classes had been in close contact with this member of staff and were told to isolate at home for 10 days. Another member of staff and one pupil also tested positive. As a result of the action taken, no other staff or pupils have caught the virus. The three who were ill are now fully recovered and everyone is back in school.
Coronavirus is still with us and we need to be watchful.  Pupils should not attend if they have any of the following symptoms:
  • a persistent cough
  • a high temperature – 37.8 or higher
  • a loss of taste or smell
They should get a test. If positive, they should stay off school for 10 days. If negative, they can return to school. They should also not attend if someone else in the home has these symptoms until that person can be tested. If positive then everyone in that house has to isolate for 10 days. If someone in a household has been told to isolate by Test, Track and Trace, the others living there do not need to isolate unless they develop symptoms. If in doubt, ring the office for clarification.
REMINDER – Pupils should not be taken out of school during term time for family holidays. Doing so may result in a fine. The Head Teacher can give permission for absence from school for a family holiday only in Exceptional Circumstances. Permission forms are available from the main school office.
Reminder about School Uniform – There is Pupil Premium funding available for uniform. Please get in touch with the office if your child is growing out of their uniform. The Uniform checklist is on the PARENT INFO drop-down menu.
