OUR EARLY HELP OFFER
Welcome back to the start of a new term and a new year. I hope that 2021 eventually brings a sense of normality back to our everyday lives. Though the country has gone into a new national lockdown on our first day back at school, the expectation is that Holly House is open to all pupils and all classes are running as normal. We have put testing in place for all staff and Key Stage 3 pupils, though this is voluntary and self-administered. If pupils are not attending we have put ‘remote learning’ in place so that they can continue their education at home. This will require the use of a computer or tablet. These will be provided if required. Free school meals will also be supplied as weekly or fortnightly food hampers.
Derbyshire County Council have sent me an important letter for the school to send to parents in relation to the Covid-19 situation over Christmas. Pupils should have brought it home, but in case you haven’t seen it you can follow this link >>> Parent Letter from the director of public health
Now the school has reopened, the same rules apply with regard to Coronavirus. Pupils should not attend if they have any of the following symptoms:
- a persistent cough
- a high temperature – 37.8 or higher
- a loss of taste or smell
They should get a test. If positive, they should stay off school for 10 days. If negative, they can return to school. They should also not attend if someone else in the home has these symptoms until that person can be tested. If positive then everyone in that house has to isolate for 10 days. If someone in a household has been told to isolate by Test, Track and Trace, the others living there do not need to isolate unless they develop symptoms. If in doubt, ring the office for clarification.
REMINDER – Pupils should not be taken out of school during term time for family holidays. Doing so may result in a fine. The Head Teacher can give permission for absence from school for a family holiday only in Exceptional Circumstances. Permission forms are available from the main school office.
Reminder about School Uniform – There is Pupil Premium funding available for uniform. Please get in touch with the office if your child is growing out of their uniform. The Uniform checklist is on the PARENT INFO drop-down menu.
