Early Help at Holly House School
Holistic, child‑centred support for children and families – as soon as a worry starts
At Holly House School, we believe children thrive when families feel supported. Our Early Help Offer provides timely, flexible and compassionate support so that worries can be addressed early, before they grow bigger. Everything we do is child‑centred, shaped around each child’s lived experience, wishes and feelings.
What is Early Help?
Early Help is support for children and families when needs first appear. It focuses on working together early, building on strengths and making sure support is joined‑up and easy to understand. Early Help sits within our wider safeguarding approach and helps ensure every child feels safe, understood and ready to learn.
How Early Help Can Support Your Family
We offer a range of support that adapts to your child’s needs and your family circumstances:
For children
- Feeling safe, cared for and understood
- Growing confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing
- Support with anxiety, emotional regulation and behaviour
- Improved engagement with school and learning
- Knowing who their trusted adults are
- Having their wishes and feelings heard and included
For parents and carers
- Someone to talk to when you’re worried – big or small
- Clear guidance on routines, sleep, boundaries and wellbeing
- Support with attendance, including EBSA (Emotionally‑Based School Avoidance)
- Advice around SEND and accessing services
- Help working with different professionals through the Team Around the Family (TAF) process
- Signposting to community, health and local authority services
How the Early Help Process Works
We aim to keep the process simple, open and supportive:
- Talk to us – share any worry or concern.
- Agree next steps together – this might include simple strategies or a short period of additional support.
- Early Help Assessment (EHA) – if further support is needed, we complete an EHA with you to understand strengths, needs and outcomes.
- Team Around the Family (TAF) – where more than one professional is involved, we bring everyone together to set clear actions.
- Review – usually every 6–8 weeks. We continue, adjust or step down support when things improve.
Our approach is always holistic – looking at the whole child, their environment and what will help them feel safe and supported.
Our Promise to Families
We are committed to offering support that is:
- Child‑centred – your child’s experiences guide our planning.
- Holistic – we consider emotional, social, learning and family needs.
- Trauma‑informed and relationship‑based – safe relationships underpin everything we do.
- Strengths‑focused – we build on what is going well.
- Non‑judgemental – Early Help is about support, not blame.
- Flexible and personalised – shaped around individual needs, including SEND.
- A partnership – we listen, value your insights and work alongside you.
When We Would Escalate to Safeguarding
If we believe a child may be at risk of harm, we must follow safeguarding procedures straight away. We will always communicate with you unless doing so would put a child at further risk.
